Responsibilities
Lead Mechanical Engineer / Radar Systems
BlueHalo is looking for a mechanical engineer with the relevant
experience to design and develop hardware supporting research and
product development in the areas of advanced RF hardware, phased
array antenna technology, and radar systems.
Job Duties:
Mechanical design of radar system hardware, including antennas,
transmit/receive modules, power supplies, and processing
modules
Developing mechanical concept designs and architectures of advanced
RF systems, including structural elements, electronics packaging,
shielding, and cooling systems.
Developing drawings and technical data packages to support
fabrication and build of mechanical parts and assemblies
Conduct structural and thermal analysis of systems
Support functional and environmental testing of physical systems to
military requirements
Supporting the prototyping process, including developing
bills-of-materials, managing procurement of parts, and either
hands-on build or supervise technicians to build prototypes
Writing technical report sections and presentations for clients
Supporting the technical proposal process
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Required Skills:
A BS degree in an engineering discipline
10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design developing
hardware in fields such as advanced RF hardware/radar systems,
robotics, electro-optics, aerospace, or military hardware
development
Design experience in the area of radar array mechanical hardware
design to include structural design, thermal management (cooling),
environmental design, shielding, grounding, cabling/wiring
distribution
Experience in mechanical design, analysis, and test for electronics
packaging, including power and signal (microwave, RF, digital),
cabling/wiring distribution, structural and thermal analysis, and
environmental test
Experience in creating engineering fabrication and assembly drawing
packages, applying relevant standards (ASME Y14.5)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Experience managing build and assembly of hardware components
Functional knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining,
sheet metal, rapid prototyping, and injection molding
Preferred Skills:
A MS degree in an engineering discipline
Current Secret or higher security clearance
Proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM
Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench or similar structural analysis
package and experience with structural, shock, or vibration
analysis
Proficiency in ANSYS Icepack or similar thermal analysis package
for electronics cooling and packaging
Experience with design for shock and vibration
Experience with developing hardware to ruggedization standards such
as MIL-STD-810
Hands-on experience with prototyping tools (hand tools, power/bench
tools)
