The Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, (MAPMG) is one of the nation's premier multispecialty medical groups and is the largest integrated medical group in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Founded in 1980, the medical group has more than 1,700 Permanente physicians spanning more than 50 subspecialties. Together, we serve approximately 800,000 Kaiser Permanente members in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia at 34 area medical centers, plus several community hospitals and skilled nursing facilities.
Job Summary:
The Research Associate supports the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute (MAPRI) in a mid-level project management support capacity and reports to the Director of Research Operations. The Research Associate supports project managers, research investigators and/or research scientists across multiple initiatives, including clinical trials and observational study management, and advancing strategic initiatives for MAPRI. In addition, the Research Associate is a key resource to the regional Kaiser Permanente Research Bank program and manages relationships between community members who serve as research advisors and the Institute's leadership and operational team.
This position is a 100% grant-funded contract position and is contingent on federal grant funding. Should federal grant funding be eliminated for any given reason, this position may be eliminated.
Responsibilities:


  • Performs patient/participant recruitment, literature reviews, and basic data management.
  • Assists with grant proposal, manuscript/abstract preparations and IRB applications/continuing review submission.
  • Supports project managers, research investigators and/or research scientists in MAPRI, helping to meaningfully advance project progress.
  • Creates presentations for project managers, research investigators and/or research scientists.
  • Assists in the development of surveys and study databases.
  • Assist in coordinating and organizing cross-team activities within studies.
  • Manages tasks, timelines, action items and follow up items.
  • Delivers high quality results on time.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in public health, health policy, biological sciences, or communications
    • Preferred: Master's degree in public health, health policy, biological sciences, or communications
    • Project management, communications, community engagement and/or health policy experience preferred
    • Strong organizational, detail-orientation and analytical skills required
    • Good written and verbal communication. Strong experience in integrating input from multiple sources and developing cohesive and actionable insights
    • Experience with creating surveys and databases (e.g. SurveyMonkey, REDCap, and Access) preferred
    • Ability to perform literature searches and references organization
    • Ability to express complex information to non-science audiences
    • Experience working on teams, as well as independently and autonomously
    • Highly proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
