OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ASSISTANT POSITION The Community Engagement Assistant provides support for the broad array of activities and functions of the offices of Development and Community Engagement, providing administrative support for unit directors. Support includes assisting with event registration, logistics and promotion, volunteer management and support with gift processing, acknowledgements, and reporting. Like all members of the Development and Public Relations team, the Community Engagement Assistant is an ambassador for Charles E. Smith Life Communities, and interacts frequently with senior managers, department heads, and residents throughout the organization, as well as volunteer leadership, donors, and members of the public. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Event and Community Relations Support: provide assistance with event logistics including but not limited to follow up with vendors update event registration as needed in Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge database including data sync of event registration, payment, specifics for event, reporting as well as post event updating and reporting as needed, provide event support including producing nametags, event materials, etc.
  • Assistance with gift processing, acknowledgements, year-end financial reporting, and other Blackbaud Raiser's Edge maintenance tasks, including regular biographical record maintenance, assignment of attributes and other functions related to donors, gift entry, reporting, events, and volunteers
  • Support the volunteer program by updating and creating volunteer records, tracking hours, updating database with volunteer responsibilities and opportunities, , provide assistance to volunteers and departments in need of volunteers, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
    • At least 1 year of experience providing administrative support, including event planning experience, database administration, volunteer management experience, or customer relations. - Experience may be part-time and include summer jobs or internships for recent college graduates.
    • Excellent customer service orientation.
    • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in the English language - ease in writing letters to constituents, communicating pleasantly and effectively with colleagues.
    • Extraordinary attention to detail in the rekeying of names, addresses, numbers.
    • Experience in using databases, specifically Raiser's Edge - updates, searches, queries, and report production, with sound understanding of good practices in data maintenance.
    • Temperament suitable to working in what can be a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
    • Exceptional ability to multi-task between projects while working with a variety of volunteers.
