About this position: We are currently seeking a conscientious, process-oriented individual to play an integral part of Join the Lafayette Federal Credit Union's Mortgage Department as a Mortgage Loan Processor. This is a wonderful opportunity to advance and learn about the credit union from business leaders. If you are a strategic thinker who is innovative, creative, and willing to learn then this job is for you. This position reports directly to the VP of Mortgage Lending. Summarily, the MLP is responsible for gathering, evaluating, and verifying the validity of all information supplied on the mortgage loan application as well as assembling and submitting a completely documented file to underwriting for closing. The MLP will act as the primary liaison between the loan officer, branch offices, realtors, builders and the borrowers. The Mortgage Loan Processor also: Processes 1st and 2nd trust loan applications received from Loan Officers in a quality consistent with all company policies and procedures as well as meeting all regulatory requirements. Maintain communication with borrowers throughout the entire loan process, assisting them with any questions, providing them with a status of their loans and notifying them of any additional items needed. Update Loan Officers, realtors, builders and Title Company on loan status. Review and monitor active loan pipeline on a daily and weekly basis and act accordingly. Monitor rate lock information for data integrity and expiration dates; communicate discrepancies to the Loan Officer. When applicable, prepare "Declination /Withdrawn Letters" and ensure accurate and timely disclosure of the reason(s) for the adverse action as soon as it is determined by the Loan Officer or Underwriter. Update the status of the loan on FICS and scan the file into Application Extender. Provide outstanding service to both internal and external members by adhering fully to the provisions of LFCU's Service Standards Policy. Be responsible for understanding and complying in an accurate and timely basis with all Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/OFAC requirements that pertain to your position at LFCU and as directed by management and/or the SVP of Risk Management. Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Mortgage Lending and/or the SVP of Mortgage Lending. Requirements The ideal candidate will: Ensure Organizational Effectiveness by reaching stated goals & objectives within specified time frames. Ensure policies and procedures comply with state, federal and NCUA regulations. Demonstrate a working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines. Demonstrate a working knowledge of Mortgage Insurance guidelines. Demonstrate analytical decision-making ability with attention to detail. Demonstrate the ability to learn and work in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to multitask and prioritize work as required Provide all members with professional support, accurate information, and friendly service. Troubleshoot and resolve internal inquiries in a timely, friendly and professional manner. Maintain positive member relations while adhering to policy and procedures. Contribute to the successful achievement of Organizational and Departmental goals as set by management and/or the VP of Mortgage Lending and/or SVP of Mortgage Lending. Adhere to Lafayette Federal's Service Standards Policy. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness. Education: High School diploma or GED Mortgage related training Working knowledge of MS Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and other applications. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to make sound decisions based on company policies and procedures. Ability to meet deadlines while prioritizing a changing workload. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Specifically Loan Officers, branch employees, borrowers, realtors, builders, appraisers, title companies, etc. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others. Must have the ability to interact with people and focus on details and follow-up on time sensitive material. Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Must have working knowledge of MS Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and other applications. Must have working ability to learn mortgage-related programs and possesses the ability to facilitate training Physical Requirements: This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets. This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary. Work Environment: This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
