Job Description:

Position Objective: Provide services as a Scientific Policy Analyst in support of the Scientific, Operations and Administrative Resources (SOAR) program at various Institutes and Centers within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyzes complex scientific variables used to prepare various reports that impact the planning and outcome of the research program.
• Collects, analyzes and assimilates data to provide a rational basis for research, health, and social policy and program decisions relating to ethical, legal and social implications.
• Provides expert guidance to management about public policy issues and provides recommendations for appropriate action.
• Attends various staff and scientific meetings providing reports as requested.
• Coordinates the daily workload of junior staff.
• Plans and presents at meetings regarding current and new initiatives.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's in Biology, Life Science, or Science related field.
• Level 1 - requires 3-4 years of relevant experience.
• Level 2- requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
• Experience assessing and developing policy.
• Demonstrates experience performing skilled data analysis.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff.
• Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
