The International Mission Board, a nonprofit religious
organization in Richmond, VA, is hiring for a Director of
Psychology & Counseling for Missionaries!
Hours: Full time in Richmond, VA (Cannot be worked
Rate: Salary based on experience and education plus great
Directs, supervises and coordinates the ministry of the
Missionary Counseling Team (Member Care) worldwide for field
personnel and their families, including all field and U.S.
Supervise the Member Care Team Leads including both counseling
and administrative supervision to ensure a consistent, worldwide
approach to Member Care. Will work within organizational guidelines
to do employee evaluations and oversee all administrative aspects
of the Lead Member Care Consultants and supervise them as they
oversee the rest of the global Member Care Team.
Collaborate with the Training team to ensure that all missionary
training related to Member Care and training used to train the
Member Care team are developed, packaged, and taught sufficiently
to meet the Member Care needs of the organization.
Work as a part of the Field Human Resources Leadership team to
coordinate the member care response of the organization. Provide
consultation as needed for field Human Resources cases where
Corrective Action, Termination, or other disciplinary action may be
Oversee the Field Member Care Team budget including directing of
funds for all the support areas.
Oversee clearance process for missionaries on stateside
assignment or on medical leave. Oversee the approval process for
missionaries coming to the U.S. on medical leave for member care
reasons. Coordinate with providers in the U.S. to provide the
necessary care. Work with those providers to assure that
treatment goals are met and the missionaries are ready to return to
active service overseas.
Provide training to missionaries in conferences
Advocate for missionaries with all levels of leadership. Help
leadership understand the needs of missionaries impacted by global
crisis and organizational decisions.
Consult with the missionary recruitment team, addressing
concerns that would require a delay in the application process or
ability to serve.
Work with candidates and their families during commissioning to
answer questions about Member Care, provide education to the
candidate families on what is provided for missionary care from a
broad organization perspective and address how to contact the board
should questions arise.
Master’s degree in Psychology or Counseling and l icensure as an
LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or its equivalent
Advanced experience with Southern Baptist Convention and
Minimum 5 years’ experience in case management and supervision
dealing with a broad range or problems and working with a number of
different counselors providing care
