Head of Index Governance

This role is also responsible for ensuring the Index management team is briefed and prepared for executive meetings, business reviews, and committee updates, with regard to key business governance initiatives. The Head of Index Governance will support and/or present to senior management as needed. The Index Governance Team will be the first line of defense when it comes to audit support and will work closely with Index partners such as the Global Risk Management group, Legal, Index Compliance, and Technology, to maintain and grow a regulated and automated environment. This role will also partner closely with the Index Business Manager to design and implement operational process improvements in support of business governance and compliance.

The ideal candidate is comfortable in a high performance, fast paced, high-pressure environment. Absolute confidentiality is required. Well-developed financial/quantitative analytical skills, superb written and verbal communication skills, and creative problem solving skills are a must. This person must be comfortable working across all levels of the organization and navigating corporate channels in order to successfully execute business tasks.

* Strategic thinker responsible for introducing, implementing and growing operational best practices and enhancements across all areas of the Global Index business.

* Streamline and organize governance processes and supporting automation activities across the Global Index business.

* Collaborate with Index Committees to ensure transparency and efficiency across all activities.

* Serve as the Index business liaison and partner with Regulators, Auditors, Risk Management and Compliance on all regulatory matters impacting the Global Index Business.

* Partner with and advise R&D, Index Portfolio Management, Index Operations on strategic best practices related to process, controls and supporting documentation.

* Assist Index stakeholders with the capture, documentation and organization of control evidence in a sustainable, efficient and transparent manner.

* Oversee Index third party relationships and the tracking and reporting of their performance to Index Management.

* Oversee the tracking and remediation of open Regulatory or Audit issues to assist owners with progress and resolution of corrective actions.

* Support and advise Index stakeholders on the execution of self-testing and any required attestations related to operational and compliance processes.

* Support and advise the Senior Leadership team on upcoming regulatory initiatives and applications.

Skill Requirements:

* Must have IOSCO and BMR regulation experience with an understanding of compliance and risk across those areas.

* 15+ years of experience within the financial services industry.

* 10+ years of demonstrated strategic leadership in complex, growing environments.

* Four year degree in Business Administration, Finance, related discipline or equivalent experience.

* Strong leadership skills: demonstrated ability to lead and develop a governance function for the Index business and build a high performing team.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively share information across all levels of the organization.

* Experience presenting in front of Boards of Directors and Senior Regulators.

* Demonstrated experience implementing governance initiatives in complex environments.

* Ability to analyze and assess the adequacy of operational and compliance processes and controls to identify opportunities for strategic improvements and efficiency gains.

* Strong understanding of the Index business and regulatory challenges that impact the industry.

* Experience in drafting and reviewing complex methodologies and supporting documentation.

* Demonstrated experience in implementing and documenting business processes across many business functions.

* Experience and understanding of auditor practices, financial markets, securities and industry data.

* Well organized and able to lead multiple, cross-functional, and time-sensitive projects at the same time.

* Demonstrated success and experience managing complex issues to resolution within changing environments.

* Understanding of business concepts in conjunction with data analysis to identify opportunities for operational improvement and growth.

* Knowledge and application of industry best practices in the governance environment.

* Operational project management experience.

* Ability to establish/grow positive working relationships with fellow team members, senior leadership, and supporting groups.

* Creative problem solving; ability to analyze and see patterns in data and information in order to create proactive solutions.

* Excels in a fast-paced, collaborative working environment.

* Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to juggle multiple projects/priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Positive, upbeat attitude and a desire to contribute to a fast growing business area.

* High integrity coupled with an ethical working style.

* Ability to remain calm and focused during high-stress situations.

Preferred:

* Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, related discipline or equivalent experience.
