We are seeking an experienced employment attorney to provide strategic counsel on labor and employment matters, with a focus on advising HR and product teams on the legal implications of artificial intelligence in employment decisions. You'll partner directly with builders and senior leadership to provide proactive guidance on AI regulations, employment compliance, discrimination, disability accommodation, and workforce management, while managing sophisticated outside counsel relationships. Key job responsibilities - Direct and manage complex employment litigation including class actions, single-plaintiff lawsuits, and government agency investigations - Assess, select, and supervise outside counsel on employment matters - Advise HR and product teams on legal compliance for AI tools and systems used in employment decisions, including hiring, performance management, and terminations - Provide strategic counsel on federal and state AI legislation and regulations affecting HR functions - Partner with HR stakeholders to assess legal risks of high-risk AI tools and automated decision systems - Develop compliance frameworks for AI-powered HR technologies in accordance with emerging regulations - Collaborate with cross-functional teams including HR, Legal, Privacy, and Technology to ensure responsible AI use in employment contexts A day in the life Your day spans advising HR and product teams on AI compliance for recruiting and talent management tools, counseling on complex employment matters including terminations and accommodations, collaborating with outside counsel on active litigation, and engaging senior HR leadership on emerging AI and employment law trends. This role blends hands-on business counseling with litigation management and AI regulatory work, requiring you to work independently while partnering across Legal, HR, Privacy, and Technology teams. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
