Job Description Position Title: Preclinical Technical Writer
Company Overview: BIOQUAL, Inc. is fully accredited by the
Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory
Animal Care International (AAALAC) and has a long history of
providing state-of-the-art facilities and trained, experienced
research scientists, veterinarians and animal care personnel for
clients involved in infectious disease investigations, cancer
research, and a wide variety of other in vivo and in vitro studies.
OBJECTIVE: The Preclinical Technical Writer prepares preclinical
study reports, including data graphing and summarization, assists
BIOQUAL Scientists in responding to requests for proposals (RFPs),
and proofreads/edits technical documents as needed. This position
reports to a BIOQUAL Scientist. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Minimum
of a B.A. or B.S. in a scientific discipline. Requires 1 or more
years of technical writing experience in academic or industry
setting within a scientific field. Ability to synthesize technical
and scientific methods and materials into technical and scientific
documents. Proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel,
and Microsoft Word; familiarity with a graphing program. Proven
verbal and written communication skills; must be detail oriented
and have strong prioritization skills. Able to work independently
and to execute multiple projects in a timely manner. Candidates
with familiarity with animal models of infectious diseases or
laboratory experiences are preferred. Candidates may be asked to
supply examples of previous writing in interviews. DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: Generating draft preclinical study reports and
preforming the final assembly of the report and related study
documents into cohesive appendices for review by Study Directors.
Communicating with the Quality Assurance Unit and other departments
for obtaining quality-controlled study documents for use in study
reports. Generating components of technical proposals for review by
collaborating authors and performing the final assembly of the
technical proposal. Reviewing and presenting preclinical data,
which includes graphing data and summarizing findings in writing
and tables. Proofreading and editing of technical documents as
requested by BIOQUAL Scientists.
