Job Description:

*JOB TITLE: * Massage Therapist\*\*4 Day work weeks, Free Parking\*\*\*\*Will be travelling to Shady Grove, Wheaton, Washington DC, and Chevy Chase offices as a per needed basis\*\**GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: ** Responsible for treating clients through soft tissue manipulation while maintaining a safe and relaxing experience. The therapist should be effective at perceiving client wishes and needs through spoken language, body language and other cues and modifying their treatments accordingly. They report directly to the Director of Rehabilitation of the clinic in which they are working and to the Executive Directors of Rehabilitation.* Prepare clients and equipment for treatment in accordance with department standards and the State of Maryland Board of Massage Therapy Examiners and the District of Columbia Board of Massage Therapy.*SUPERVISION RECEIVED: * Reports directly to Director of Rehabilitation and Executive Directors of Rehabilitation*SUPERVISION EXERCISED: * None*TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: ** Requires full range of motion for tasks including handling and assisting clients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination* Requires normal visual acuity and hearing* Requires capabilities for prolonged sitting and standing as well as bending and stooping* Requires frequent walking, standing, weight shifting, bending, pulling, handling* Requires basic organizational skills, computer skills and basic interpersonal skills to communicate with patients, families, and staff* Requires ability to push/pull, lift, or move equipment and physically assist clients with direction and guidance.*TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: * Exposure to diseases and other conditions common in a clinic environment*EXAMPLES OF DUTIES*:*DAILY DUTIES *1. Bring clients back after check-in for massage therapy services2. Assist clients as needed3. Break down and clean work massage area*DAILY DUTIES (cont.): *4. Set up clients for treatment5. Assess massage schedule to ensure full patient scheduling6. Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Executive Director, Director/Assistant Director of Rehabilitation.*MONTHLY DUTIES *1. Notify Director of clinic when not available to be in the office for practice*YEARLY DUTIES *1. Ensure that massage therapist license and malpractice insurance are up-to-date, current, and active. Provide any new/updated license and/or malpractice insurance information to the Executive Director of Rehabilitation.*PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1. Basic computer skills2. Knowledge of basic medical terminology3. Knowledge of the State of Maryland and District of Columbia regulations for Massage Therapy4. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments5. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment6. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, other staff, and the public7. Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing8. Ability to make good use of body mechanics and follow safety regulations*COMPLIANCE: *1. Follow compliance requirements mandated by HFCA, Medicare and all other ARA contracted carriers; This should include a working knowledge of the accountability of others within the practice as well2. Follow guidelines for maintaining patient confidentiality3. Demonstrate a strong commitment to honest and responsible corporate conduct4. Identify, report and/or prevent any fraudulent or unethical behavior5. Initiate notification to management if inappropriate behavior is observed within the organization6. Follow electronic security protocols including not using company computers for nonbusiness purposes and not using cell phones during work hours*HIPAA Minimum-Necessary Access to PHI *The responsibilities associated with this position allow access to the computer "role" of PT/OAC only.We are committed to enforcing *minimum-necessary access *to our patients' *PHI *by limiting the uses and disclosures of this information within our practice.
