ESG solutions enable investors to develop and integrate responsible investing policies and practices, engage on responsible investment issues, and monitor portfolio company practices through screening solutions. It also provides climate data, analytics, and advisory services to help financial market participants understand, measure, and act on climate-related risks across all asset classes. In addition, ESG solutions cover corporate and country ESG research and ratings enabling its clients to identify material social and environmental risks and opportunities. OVERVIEW We are seeking a ESG Ratings Research Sector Head, Healthcare, to join ISS ESG Ratings to lead our work across multiple sectors/industries. The successful candidate will be part of the global ISS ESG Ratings team which assesses the environmental and social performance of the world's most relevant companies, covering a continuously expanding universe of more than 6,800 companies and over 10,000 issuers worldwide. Providing investors with a basis for their investment decisions and companies with a valuable benchmark, the ESG Corporate Rating is an important driver for advancing ESG investments and for improving the ESG performance of companies. This member of the ISS ESG Ratings leadership team and is responsible for driving content and providing leadership and guidance to the Ratings team's This means that, as an ISS ESG Ratings Vice President, this individual will be expected to represent the ISS ESG Ratings team as--- * an expert in their relevant market internally at ISS ESG as well as externally with clients, potential clients, company representatives, financial service industry colleagues, and others. They will be responsible for monitoring and communicating relevant local market developments regarding sustainability, sustainable investment, corporate responsibility, and any other salient issue. * a Sector Head. They will serve as the expert and main point of internal and external contact for inquiries regarding their industry sector. They will also be responsible for keeping current with any relevant industry trends and developments, for proposing any necessary updates to their industry sector research methodology, and all aspects of management of their sector team. In addition, the Boston Based ESG sector head will be expected to participate in, and contribute to, the global ESG Ratings team's strategic discussions and decision making. Specific responsibilities will drive efficient research and ratings processes; enhance our current transparent assessment and ratings methodology ensuring its adherence to global standard setting frameworks, and alignment to financial materiality. Finally, the ideal candidate will themselves be primarily responsible for conducting in depth analysis and research production to evaluate company sustainability performance. This research will assess company performance in a number of sustainability-related areas, including working standards and conditions, supply chain management, ESG governance, environmental management, emission and resource consumption data as well as several sector-specific key issues. This work involves reviewing company documents such as sustainability reports, annual reports and corporate websites, identifying relevant topics and analyzing them based on our proprietary methodology. Qualitative and quantitative analysis will be used to generate individual rating reports as well as studies on selected topic- or industry-related sustainability trends when needed. As the research team is based in across multiple global locations including Europe, the US, and Asia Pacific , the successful candidate will need to work both independently as well as collaboratively with local colleagues as well as colleagues abroad. RESPONSIBILITIES * Represent the ISS ESG Ratings team in the UK to local ISS colleagues, clients, potential colleagues, and other professional colleagues * Serve as the expert and main point of internal and external contact for inquiries regarding their industry sector * Responsible for keeping current with any relevant industry trends and developments, for proposing any necessary updates to their industry sector research methodology, and all aspects of management of their sector team * Develop and maintain a strong and high performing ISS ESG Ratings team, manage team and individual team member performance and productivity, maintaining a high-quality research standard * Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and professional development for team members * Create a positive and collaborative working environment * Contribute to ISS ESG Ratings strategic thinking, decision making, and help lead organizational change initiatives * Systematic ESG data gathering from company disclosures (e.g. sustainability reports, annual reports). ESG data processing, research, and analysis in line with ISS ESG methodology. Apply an in-depth understanding of and strong interest in macro-level ESG issues * Use creativity and innovative approaches, including technology, to unlock resource capacity and drive coverage expansion and ongoing universe management * Track and monitor developments and trends in any market and sector of specialization * Demonstrate proactiveness with a strong sense of ownership for the work under their responsibility, taking ownership of production targets and delivering the research within timelines outlined in the processes and quality standards * Constantly endeavoring to develop knowledge and expertise on ESG topics and issues * Supporting the ratings team by the means of thought leadership and research publications, methodology reviews and ESG market developments monitoring. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's or master's degree (A degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, environmental science or international human rights is desirable but not required.) * Demonstrated leadership skills and a minimum 7-10 years of management experience * Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members * Work experience in the field of sustainable investment/finance as well as knowledge on specific ESG topics/sectors * Integrity, organizational skills, attention to detail, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment * Adaptability, flexibility, ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving environment and field * Strong research and analytical skills, ability to quickly process large amounts of data and information * Commitment to excellence and quality management/control * Strong and effective communication and presentation skills * Excellent English language skills, both written and oral and proficiency in other languages a plus #ESG #LI-JB1 ISS is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with the Veteran and Disability Acts.
