Coordinates learning experiences that support quality services consistent with standards and practice guidelines of the facility as well as monitors the activities of clinical staff to provide quality services that comply with State and Federal standards. Some responsibilities include:--Participates with development and direction of orientation programs for clinical staff and job skills training in accordance with established standards and practice guidelinesFacilitates the clinical department orientation programMaintains complete, accurate, and current records of educational programs and staff participation (Federal Mandatory Requirement Training as well as Clinical Skill Competency and Evaluation), and certification required for nursing personnel to perform job functionCoordinates educational activities (includes clinical affiliations, nurse residency, etc.) and develops evidence-based educational materialsCreates high-quality educational materials, presentations, and/or programs consistent with NLCS standards and expectationsSupports continuous staff learning with educational activities (which include remediation, certification, emergency preparedness, product/system roll-outs, etc.)Delivers effective training and education in various formats while also facilitating discussion and lasting knowledge among the participantsParticipates in review of activities or processes for area of coverage and departmentResponds to changes in nursing practice and develops programs to support those changesEnsures that educational programs are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals Maintains flexibility when managing multiple roles and responsibilitiesSupports policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NLCSUnderstands facility standards and practice guidelines as well as State and Federal regulations in the area of mandatory compliance trainingRegularly inspects implementation and activity related to nursing practices and compliance with federal, state and local standards and regulations; as well as the policies and procedures of NLCSRegistered Nurse with active license in good standing for the State of Maryland or VirginiaBachelor's degree in nursing or health-related field requiredPositive experience in teaching adult learners--Current CPR certification requiredExperience in geriatric and/or subacute nursing, with supervisory and leadership skills of others Computer electronic medical record experience is requiredExperience and ability to effectively utilize the Microsoft Office suite, as well as other electronic productivity tools and electronic health recordsDemonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholdersAbility to organize, provide leadership, communicate, and coach staffMust possess strong written and oral communication skills; and ability to maintain confidential informationAbility to communicate at all levels, provide instruction and train other employees is requiredThree (3) years of experience working in education preferred
