Job Description:
Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins'
focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a
national and global leader in higher education. We create and
foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and
philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University &
Medicine-strengthening the institution through partnerships with
donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and
patients.Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model
which includes four different work modalities. This role has an
onsite work arrangement with an onsite presence of 5 days per week.
The manager will confirm the team's core onsite days where the
majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who
travel on university business can count those days towards their
onsite days.Reporting to the Director of Blue Jays Unlimited, the
Associate Director, Annual Fund & Stewardship will be responsible
for developing and executing the annual fund for Blue Jays
Unlimited, manage volunteer engagement among undergraduate alumni,
helping achieve alumni participation goals on an annual basis, and
manage annual fund stewardship. Campaigns will include direct mail,
email, and crowdfunding appeals for all Athletics constituents.The
Associate Director will collaborate with development colleagues in
the Office of Annual Giving, The Hopkins Fund, Parent & Family
Programs, Krieger School of Arts & Sciences, and the Whiting School
of Engineering, to increase overall undergraduate annual giving
both in terms of revenue and donor participation for Blue Jays
Unlimited.Key responsibilities:Annual Fund:
- Develop the annual fund (i.e. solicitation, stewardship) plan
for Blue Jays Unlimited in collaboration with the Office of Annual
Giving; monitor implementation, establish appropriate goals, and
measure results.
- Develop segmentation and contact strategies that are consistent
with the overall objectives of Blue Jays Unlimited.
- Determine models to forecast results for dollars and
undergraduate alumni participation while monitoring progress toward
goal achievement.
- Coordinate development and production of all direct mail and
email campaigns for Blue Jays Unlimited.
- Manage the Hopkins Athletics Leadership Giving Circle.
- Manage all sport specific giving clubs for Hopkins
Athletics.
- Serve as a development sports liaison for a minimum of three
programs.
- Manage the creation and implementation of weekly, monthly, and
annual reports; both internally and externally.
- Serve as the staff writer for solicitations and stewardship for
Hopkins Athletics.
- Partner with the Executive Director of Development-Homewood
Programs, Director of Development-Athletics, and Head of Annual
Giving, to develop annual participation goals for Athletics
Undergraduate Giving.
- Create team and individual participation goals for the Blue
Jays Unlimited gift officers.
- Identify areas for program growth (i.e. matching gift program,
recurring giving, and digital fundraising platform) to drive
participation and create lasting structures to increase annual
giving revenue.
- Establish a strong digital engagement strategy for Blue Jays
Unlimited in collaboration with the Office of Annual Giving and
Athletic Communications to deploy and drive alumni participation;
serve as the liaison between interdepartmental entities to provide
and source content for digital platforms.Stewardship:
- Manage the annual fund stewardship program.
- Draft acknowledgement and annual stewardship letters, emails,
and videos for athletics donors which may include coordinating
activities with athletics staff.
- Assist with maintenance of prospect and donor data in JHAS
(Salesforce) and Constant Contact.
- Partner with the athletic gift officers on major gift
stewardship.Volunteer Engagement (Alumni):
- Create, implement, and manage a volunteer engagement program
for the Hopkins Athletics Participation campaigns.
- Create training collateral for all volunteers.
- Train and motivate alumni volunteers to support the achievement
of strategic goals.
- Identify and cultivate alumni for future volunteer leadership
roles.
- Identify prospects for potential engagement through reunion and
recent graduate committees, volunteer activities, annual giving,
and events.Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three years related experience, with at least two years of
professional experience.Preferred Qualifications
- Fast-paced, highly variable, and entrepreneurial; this role is
best suited for an individual with deft interpersonal skills and
collaborative instincts, high adaptability and creativity,
intellectual curiosity, a service mindset, and a keen interest in
advancing the mission of one of the world's great research
universities.
- Strong data management skills to effectively use the JHAS
constituent management database, Microsoft Office suite, and other
systems. Experience with Salesforce platform is preferred, but not
required.
- Keen project management skills to determine priorities and
manage multiple projects at once.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills;
demonstrated effective writing skills.
- Comfortable working in a complex, multi-divisional, and
fast-paced organization.
- Able to work a flex schedule including nights, weekends, and
out of state travel as required.
- Knowledge of NCAA compliance rules.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to
travel.
- Must live within commuting distance to the Baltimore campus and
able to work in an office setting five days per week.Classified
