KPIF Territory Manager

Job Summary:
Active participation in a range of territory strategy projects essential to KPs membership and margin goals. Represents Kaiser Permanente in the community, and markets to brokers and individuals. Maintains effective relationships with account management team, group contacts, Medicare staff, civic organizations, brokers, community leaders, as well as KP employees and affiliated providers. Manages new sales, retention and growth activity within territory to achieve KPs membership goals.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic thinking and analysis on projects that identify business issues related to the market, line of business and territory to include market and competitive intelligence, market share, etc. and create strategic territory segment plans. Vets findings and makes formal recommendations to leadership to inform forecasting and pricing.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in sales, account management, marketing, business development, and/or managing business to business relationships required.

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the health insurance industry required.


      • Bachelors degree in marketing, finance, business administration OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

      • High School Diploma or GED required.

        License, Certification, Registration

          Additional Requirements:

          • Demonstrated ability to work independently in the marketplace, concluding sales activities, marketing activities to position KP as a trusted partner for meeting the health care needs of the assigned territory.

          • Ability to organize and conduct sales presentations with outside business partners, civic leaders and to internal audiences as well to promote individual sales.

          • Substantial knowledge in the health care industry to include health insurance rules, regulations and compliance as well as being versed in ACA guidelines.

          • Working knowledge of claims, underwriting, member services, medical office operations and marketing.

          • Effective negotiation, verbal and written communication skills.

          • Requires a presence in the field at brokers offices, and KP Medical Offices.

          • Requires a presence in assigned community centers and business locations.

            Preferred Qualifications:

            • One (1) year of experience in strategic planning and/or analysis preferred.
