Job Description:
The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association requires all
new employees to present proof they are fully vaccinated against

Exemption Status: ExemptDescriptionThis position provides the
strategic vision and thinking in partnership with the National
Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) Executive
Council; provides operational leadership and ensures the fiscal
health of the association; provides oversight of programmatic
areas; directs membership recruitment; orchestrates the
communications of the association; oversees the implementation of
strategic focus areas; and the development and supervision of
professional staff.Responsibilities
- Provide the vision and strategic thinking in partnership with
the NSSLHA Executive Council and serve as ex officio member to the
NSSLHA Executive Council.
- Coordinate the daily operations of NSSLHA which includes
recruiting, coaching, developing, and evaluating staff as well as
ensuring the fiscal health of the organization, developing and
managing the budget, leading the creation of products and
strategies to diversify revenue streams, developing strategic
partnership opportunities, managing contracts and vendors along
with any other leadership and management activities as
required.
- Create and maintain membership recruitment and retention
efforts that remain relevant to NSSLHA's target market while
implementing membership growth strategies.
- Coordinate the creation of communications to current,
potential, and past NSSLHA members; chapters and chapter advisors;
ASHA members and staff; and current and potential advertisers and
partners.
- Serve as liaison to external student organizations, ASHA staff,
ASHA Committees, ASHA Special Interest Groups, and higher education
organizations and advocate within NSSLHA, ASHA, and other student
organizations to integrate the student perspective in policy
development, and to manage program planning and
implementation.
- Analyze trends and practices in related student-led
organizations, higher education organizations, and association
administration, and advise NSSLHA student leaders on appropriate
solutions for achieving desired outcomes, then manage the
implementation of strategic goals.
- Coordinate the implementation of the Operating Agreement
between NSSLHA and ASHA and its periodic
updates.QualificationsKnowledge Typically Acquired Through
- Bachelor's degree (required) in liberal arts, communications,
or business administration (preferred).
- Master's degree in communications or business administration
(preferred)
- A record of achievement in organizational leadership, strategic
thinking, non-profit budgets, membership recruitment,
communications, and business development.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar position requiring
leadership roles, association management, membership recruitment or
management, and/or marketing and communication skills
(preferred).
- 3-5 years' supervisory experience (preferred).
- American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Certified
Association Executive (CAE) credential (preferred).Scope and Depth

direction at a programmatic, enterprise-wide level

of sources to inform decision making
- Knowledge of association governance policies and
procedures
- Basic knowledge of marketing and promotion
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategy around recruitment and
retention of members-ideally targeting student populations
- Demonstrated ability to write clearly and succinctly in a
variety of settings
- Facility with MS Office and database management
- Strong interpersonal skillsScope and Depth of Non-Technical
Skills/Knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to manage and implement multiple tasks
simultaneously and to prioritize effectively
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams to accomplish
projects and to work cooperatively with staff and volunteers
