As the Senior Manager, Corporate Development (Search & Evaluation), you will be responsible for carrying out the Search and Evaluation function for REGENXBIO's Corporate Development group, focusing on the identification and analysis of: key scientific/technical landscapes; existing assets or new product development opportunities in certain disease indications or select therapeutic areas; and emerging technologies of value in the AAV gene therapy field that may augment the company's core capabilities and platform. This role will work closely with team members in Corporate Development along with colleagues from other departments, especially the Research and Early Development and New Product Planning groups, to develop and articulate recommendations regarding potential partnership, licensing, and/or acquisition of external programs, assets, and/or technologies. What you'll be doing: * Aid in developing the search strategy for external opportunities, and implement the tactics for screening and prioritizing potential external programs, assets, and technologies of interest * Proactively identify and provide scientific / technical assessment of therapeutic opportunities, promising science, and new technologies spanning early research to clinical-stage development * Develop relationships with prospective partners and opportunity sources, primarily from academia or other research institutions (investigators and tech transfer offices) and industry (biotech and pharma organizations), though may include other potential deal sources as well * Attend scientific, medical, industry, and business development conferences * Develop and maintain databases and other tools to track key information from external opportunity surveillance * Engage with colleagues through formal and informal channels to network internally, review search priorities, and identify high value external opportunities; routinely liaise with key personnel in other departments, including Research & Early Development and Commercial (Portfolio Planning) * In support of potential deal execution, lead or help organize cross-functional diligence teams to perform comprehensive analysis of opportunities integrating key functional area viewpoints to identify necessary considerations and generate resulting recommendations * Play a lead role in setting up external partnerships to conduct early-stage research (e.g., through sponsored research agreements) * For deals being pursued, may participate in the drafting of transaction concepts, term sheets, and other deal-related documents or materials * Opportunity to participate in other activities based on experience / background, including participating directly in deal strategy and execution; significant opportunity for growth for a high performer * Occasional travel may be required * It is imperative that REGENXBIO employees embody our core values by working collaboratively, building strong relationships and using clear communication to meet shared objectives. To be successful in this role and help us achieve our goals, we are looking for someone with the following skills and qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in a life sciences field required. Advanced degree preferred (MS or Ph.D.). Other degrees may be considered with demonstration of the requisite scientific curiosity and acumen to be successful in this highly science-driven role. * 6+ years of experience across business development, alliance management, project management, consulting, or other similar or relevant roles * 3+ years of experience performing scientific evaluation of new technology or new product opportunities, ideally in the context of supporting potential business deals * Biotechnology or biopharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred; direct experience with gene therapy a plus * Proficient with typical business software / applications * Have a solid foundation of skills in communication, facilitation, and interpersonal dynamics; must be a genuine team player * Strong scientific background, analytical mindset, and ability to synthesize and distill an array of information into key points * Must have the ability to clearly articulate and convey the meaning / importance of scientific analysis to a variety of audiences * Strong business acumen and ability to facilitate well-informed, fact-based decision making * Ability to think critically and creatively as well as to anticipate and solve problems * Adept at collaborating and leading when necessary; possesses demonstrated networking and influencing skills with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholders * Understanding of the stages of pharmaceutical drug development and the process of translating new science / technology into clinical therapeutic development and beyond * Familiarity with common business development practices, including term sheet and deal structures customary in the industry, valuation methods, forecasting, negotiation, and project management * Sound planning/organizing skills including prioritizing work activities, managing time efficiently, and developing realistic action plans * Must be detail-oriented with the ability to execute effectively on multiple concurrent projects * Possesses sound judgment with the ability to maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to the absolute need for preserving confidentiality of sensitive information at all times * Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment with varying priorities, based on a team-first culture Why should you apply?
