Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer responsible for providing networking support related to nuclear security, including stockpile management, nonproliferation, and nuclear security under the DOE. This position is fully onsite in Washington, DC or Manassas, VA.Must have active Top Secret or Q clearanceResponsibilities:

• Install, configure, maintain, and optimize LAN and WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, VPN appliances, load balancers, and security devices.
• Apply security patches to network devices promptly, including routers, switches, voice/video systems, and security appliances.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize using industry best practices.
• Maintain accurate inventory of network assets and manage lifecycle effectively.
• Contribute to network project planning by providing design recommendations and technical feedback.
• Manage data center network infrastructure, support storage and virtualization systems, and collaborate on infrastructure improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including outages affecting voice, video, and data services.
• Demonstrate expertise in routing, switching, and firewall configurations supporting secure LAN/WAN networks.
• Support Linux/Unix and Windows OS systems, ensuring integration with network services.
• Prepare detailed reports on network performance, incidents, and infrastructure status.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, addressing inquiries and troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
• Lead or assist in network/system projects, ensuring proper planning and execution.
• Implement and enforce security protocols to prevent unauthorized access and threats.
• Plan and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure network resilience.Qualifications:

• Experience with Cisco Router and switch configuration (IOS/NX-OS), Palo Alto NextGen Firewall, VPN configuration, and General Dynamics Taclanes/GEMOne.
• Knowledge of F5 Load Balancer, GTM/Big DNS.
• Proficiency with Windows and Unix/Linux OS, network security, traffic analysis, incident response, vulnerability assessment, packet analysis, and systems hardening.
• Strong understanding of layer 2 switching, layer 3 routing protocols, and encryption protocols such as TLS/SSL, IPsec, SSH, BGP, VLAN, etc.
• Experience in Network Design, Troubleshooting, and Performance Tuning.Compensation:$150,000-175,000 depending on experience and degree.
