Role: Network Engineer
Client: Federal

Status: This position requires a US Citizen
Position Type: Fulltime
- The position will provide technical support, focusing on
Network, Monitoring, implementation, and, Network Security for the
client.
- This role interfaces with client personnel and other support
staff to solve problems.,
- The network engineer will take direction from the onsite Team
Lead and offsite Program Manager.
- Must be able to operate in a time-sensitive environment to
complete projects and tasks.
- Experience working in large-scale data centers and storage
facilities.
- Candidate must have experience working with hybrid networks,
including but not limited to on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
(Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, VMware, etc.)
- Must have experience with Installation, Configuration, and
deployment of routers, switches, and firewalls. Platforms include
Cisco switches, Cisco ASA's, Brocade/Ruckus switches, and Fortinet
Firewalls.
- Provides technical support, assists with troubleshooting, and
commercial and in-house developed products using various tools.
Experience with network monitoring tools is a plus, including Cisco
Client.
- Must have experience with troubleshooting network technology
including, but not limited to, WAN/LAN, wireless, VoIP, Ethernet
circuits; Multi-Protocol, Label-Switching (MPLS); Internet Protocol
(IP) and Session-Initiation Protocol (SIP) systems.
- As systems are implemented, r assistance may be required to
ensure monitoring, network troubleshooting, and network-traffic
reporting; These tools will be used to view, analyze and identify
issues in real-time, being proactive in identifying them.
- On-Call Support may be required on evenings and weekends
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Wide Area Network. Responding to support requests via
email, phone calls, and incident tracking system.
- Configure and deploy network devices such as switches, routers,
and firewalls. Vendors include Cisco, Ruckus, and
Fortinet)
- Configuration and management of VPN solutions.
- Configuration and management of Wireless systems. Experience
with Cisco and Ruckus is a plus.
- Provide Tier 3 WAN network support while interfacing with
various support groups. This may include commercial vendors and
partners.
- Use ServiceNow to track service workflows and various
service-related incidents.
- Support new solutions, design, and implement data
communications/telecommunications networks.
- Analyze and resolve ongoing technical issues and identify
potential improvements to increase technical infrastructure
reliability.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve network issues
relating to communication/ connectivity of applications, systems,
and resources.
- Monitor network performance and provide recommendations for
improved efficiency and reliability.
- Evaluate current network-monitoring products and make
recommendations on how best to use them.
- Provide general-system configuration, procedures, testing
models, support, and training needed.
- Assist in transforming managed services, recognizing routers,
switches, Wi-Fi, and firewall (network services) are transferring
to the managed, local-area network (MLAN).
- Provide guidance, support, and documentation for effective
reporting of network traffic conditions (setting alarm thresholds
and reporting options)
- Monitor, support, and troubleshoot various vendor products,
such as Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus, and other related products concerning
Wide Area Networks (WAN), Local Area Networks (LAN), and Wireless
LAN (WLAN). When possible, the client will provide visibility to
networks.
- Coordinate and collaborate with support contractors and
government partners to identify and resolve issues/ tickets. This
includes Telecommunication, Cisco,
Minimum Requirements:
- CCNA with at least 3+ years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in information technology-related field of
study with a network engineering focus with a strong understanding
of network infrastructure and network hardware ( Preferred)
Attributes:
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions,
implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure
devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers,
switches, and controllers.
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure
protocols.
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation
for design and planning network communication systems.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of
IT and the organization.
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and
products using documentation and internet resources.
- A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable
working in a team environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to be dependable and
flexible when necessary.
- Network security experience. LAN and WAN experience.
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification is
desirable.
Travel: Travel may be required to client sites to evaluate and
troubleshoot network-related issues. The position is currently 100%
remote, but the client may require attendance at an office in
Washington, DC, in the future.
