Big Data Engineer
Location: Remote but need to live within 50 miles of one of our client's 16 markets - Position is fully remote. Candidate can reside anywhere is the USA, but must be willing to travel to onsite presence with a purpose meetings in the DC metro area at least once a calendar year.
Contract to Hire, long term contract (Direct Hire could be possible)

Job Description:

Our client currently runs an anomaly detection environment that is made up of both rule based and machine learning 'patterns' that are scanning daily trade data in excess of 235 billion market events/day. Our client has plans to expand the surveillance capabilities of these patterns is looking for some of the most talented big data engineers in the country! Big data engineers in this environment need to have previous data engineering experience, have expertise in SQL and be able to code in Java, Scala and/or Python. Previous big data experience is not a requirement but is huge preference for the client since their data set is so massive.

Required: Spark on any cloud platform Scala
Python
Java (not application development)

AWS Cloud Technology - compute and storage
SQL
Good Communication
SDLC experience
Education (check if total years of experience is counting education): University/College
Year of Graduation
Certifications: Only if they have working experience of that certification

Desired Big data experience
Machine Learing/Aritficial Intillegence (Client/AI)
Ignore: Micosoft Azure
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Oracle Cloud
ELT/ETL including Dev Ops
Database Architect/Developers
Data Tools (Tableau, Power BI, Informatica, Data Stage, AbInitio etc)
Any of these roles(multi): Data Science, Data Analyst, Big Data
Levels Junior Level Years of experience:
Mid Level Years of experience:
Senior Level Years of experience: > 7yrs
