The FNIH celebrates diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.DescriptionThe Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) seeks a Social Media Associate to enhance its talented team of communicators working to raise awareness about the FNIH and its programs, training initiatives, and events. The Social Media Associate will develop visuals and content for ongoing social media postings and the website; draft visuals and content for the e-newsletter and eblasts; and analyze traffic to all FNIH digital platforms. The Social Media Associate may be called upon to assist with projects outside of his or her main duties as necessary and appropriate. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Social Media Associate will work closely with the Communications department and other program and administrative staff at the FNIH in a collegial team environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as Communications team lead on the FNIH's digital platforms, including its social media channels, website, and email marketing platform. Develop, implement, and manage social media content plans and campaigns using Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, including drafting posts, in close collaboration with the FNIH Communications team and program staff. Create a new Instagram social media platform, using an already-developed style guide and set of templates. Source and create graphics/visuals/animated videos for FNIH digital platforms (using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Spark, or Canva) as well as oversee vendors to develop social graphics and videos. Create implementable social media toolkits for use by FNIH teams and outside partners. Manage social media campaigns, including paid advertising, and track and report results to be shared with program teams and leadership. Analyze digital traffic regularly, using a customized analytics dashboard, develop reports for internal stakeholders, and recommend/implement changes to current strategies. Draft content for and update the FNIH website as needed, offering recommendations for how to make webpages more engaging. Plan, write, design, schedule, and send FNIH e-newsletters, announcements, and other e-blasts as needed. Work effectively with other FNIH staff and with NIH representatives to support the overall FNIH communications strategy and activities. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of three years of communications experience focused on social media, and a bachelor's degree in communications or other relevant field(s). Focused and motivated self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent writing, design and editing skills. A working knowledge of social media, email marketing and website design principles. An interest in or flair for telling compelling stories of science in the digital space. Experience working on multiple projects with deadline pressures and competing priorities. Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant tools; Experience with Drupal (or other content management systems) and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and/or Canva are considered a plus.
